Mike Baur worked in the banking industry for more than 20 years before he co-founded the Swiss Startup Factory in 2014, which he started because he wanted to create a training program for business people in Switzerland who are interested in startup endeavors. Through his company, he supports the startup ventures of these entrepreneurs both in an advisory and a financial way. His 3-month startup acceleration program provides coaching and mentoring services that are carried out in the city of Zurich. He thinks of this platform as being somewhat of a boot camp that will help raise the quality of new businesses that are in the very early stages of development.
Having been an executive board member of one of Switzerland’s largest private banks, Mike Baur has the kind of financial experience that makes him an effective advisor and motivator. He received an MBA degree from the University of Rochester New York, and an Executive MBA from the University of Berne in his home country. He feels that in order for business professionals to be successful, it is important for them to be passionate about what they do. He credits his ability to always get up early as being part of what makes him more productive as an entrepreneur. His leadership skills led to his being featured in business publications such as the Wall Street Journal, which did an article on him in 2016.
He has had a big interest in the world of business since he was very young. At the age of 14, he got his introduction to entrepreneurship when he was hired to sell ice cream during summer vacation. During his long career in the business industry, he has worked to create ways to help others in the corporate world through mentoring and advising by not only starting the Swiss Startup Factory, but through another company he founded called Think Reloaded, which is geared toward providing financial consulting to his more affluent clients.
One of the CEO’s influences is Anthony Robbin, who is a popular motivational speaker and life coach who wrote a book called Awaken the Giant Within, which Mike Baur recommends to entrepreneurs due to the fact that he feels it gives great guidance and tools for reaching personal goals. He has said that one thing he is presently excited about is virtual reality, because he feels that it will impact a lot of industries in the future.
